Titanium is widely used in the petrochemical industry, mainly reflected in the following aspects:

Structural material: Titanium metal material is an excellent structural material in petroleum refining and petrochemicals, which can be used to manufacture various reactors, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, separator pipelines, condenser liners at the top of distillation towers, etc.

Corrosion resistance: Titanium has excellent stability in organic compounds, except for the five organic acids at high temperatures (formic acid, acetic acid, oxalic acid, trichloroacetic acid, trifluoroacetic acid). Therefore, titanium is an excellent structural material in petroleum refining and petrochemicals, which can be used to make various heat exchangers, reactors, high-pressure vessels, and distillation towers.

Special applications: Titanium and titanium alloys are commonly used in the petrochemical industry to manufacture equipment with high corrosion resistance and strength. Commonly used titanium and titanium alloys include industrial pure titanium and low-alloy titanium, such as TA0, TA1, TA2 and TA9 (Ti Pd), TA10 (Ti Mo Ni) specified by national standards.

Specific case: Titanium equipment is ideal for refining crude oil with high sulfur and salt content. Titanium equipment has been successfully used in many processes abroad, such as atmospheric distillation units, sewage treatment equipment, condensers for desulfurization separation towers, and radiators for stripping towers, for many years. China has also adopted cast titanium seawater pumps, titanium condensers for catalytic cracking and fractionation, cryogenic separation titanium condensers, and porous titanium plates in this system, all of which have been operating normally for more than ten years.

In summary, the application of titanium and its alloys in the petrochemical industry is not limited to structural materials, but also includes various equipment manufacturing in special applications and specific cases, demonstrating the important role of titanium in improving production efficiency, solving industrial problems, and reducing environmental pollution.
