Head Overview:
Head refers to the component used to seal the end of a container to isolate the internal and external media, also known as an end cap. The head of a cylindrical descriptor is usually a rotating shell. According to the shape of the head surface, it can be divided into convex, conical, flat, and composite shapes. Convex head refers to a head with a convex outer surface shape, such as a semi spherical, elliptical, disc-shaped, and non folded spherical head. Some gas cylinders use a combination of convex inward bottom heads, which can ensure strength and meet the requirements of safe use.
The head is the end cap on a pressure vessel and is a major pressure bearing component of the vessel. Its function is sealing. One is to make the top and bottom of the tank shaped pressure vessel, and the other is that the pipeline has reached its end and is not ready to extend further, so a head is used to seal the pipe by welding. Products that have similar functions to the head include blind plates and pipe caps, but those two products can be disassembled. After the head is welded, it cannot be disassembled again. The matching fittings include pressure vessels, pipelines, flanges, elbows, tees, tees, and other products.
The quality of the head is directly related to the long-term safe and reliable operation of the pressure vessel.
Purpose:
The head is an essential component in pressure vessel equipment for many industries, from petrochemicals, atomic energy to food and pharmaceuticals.
